What is pain management revenue intelligence?

Pain management revenue intelligence finds interventional pain patients whose planned sequence stopped: diagnostic medial branch blocks with no recorded next step, epidural steroid injection series left incomplete, procedures waiting on authorization or imaging, missed post-procedure visits and referrals never seen. Nuvory applies healthcare revenue leakage intelligence to these sequences and ranks each patient so schedulers know who to move first.

Why do block, ablation and injection sequences stall?

Sequences stall because each procedure depends on the one before it, and on paperwork between them. Many payers set documentation requirements between diagnostic blocks and ablation, such as a recorded response to a block before radiofrequency ablation is authorized; requirements differ, so check each payer's policy. The path can include a block, a pain diary or follow-up call, sometimes another block, a new authorization, and then the ablation. If any piece is missing, the patient sits in limbo.

Injection series have a similar shape. When a physician plans a second epidural steroid injection depending on response, the next date is often not booked at checkout. The patient feels some relief, does not call, and the series ends by default rather than by decision.

Authorization and imaging add delay. Some payers want recent imaging before certain injections, and many want prior authorization. While the auth coordinator waits, the order drops off the scheduler's view. Procedure days also lose patients when an authorization or imaging is still pending, or when the response to the last block has not been recorded.

  • Response data lives in notes Pain scores after a block are often in free text or a phone note, not a structured field.
  • Auth queues and schedules are separate Approved authorizations do not always trigger a call to book.
  • Repeat procedures have long gaps When pain returns months after an ablation, the patient may not know to call.
  • Referrals arrive mid-pathway A spine surgeon's referral often arrives with imaging already done, so the first visit is the step that stalls.

How does pain management revenue intelligence follow each sequence?

Pain management analytics software counts procedures; Nuvory follows the sequence. It links each patient's procedure history, orders, authorizations where recorded, appointments and referrals, every night. It looks for the expected next step: a second diagnostic block after a first, an ablation order after a completed block series, the next injection in a planned series, the follow-up visit after any procedure. The rules come from HealthArc templates and your clinical reviewer signs off each one.

  • Procedure history Completed blocks, ablations and injections by level and date, from procedure and charge data.
  • Orders and authorizations Open procedure and imaging orders, with authorization status where your EHR records it.
  • Appointments Procedure-day cancellations flagged after 2 days without rebooking; office visits after 7. Both configurable.
  • Referrals Inbound referrals with no contact after 7 days or no visit after 14.
  • Claims (optional) Where connected, clearinghouse data helps confirm completed procedures.

Does Nuvory decide whether a patient qualifies for RFA?

No. Medical necessity and clinical eligibility are never decided by Nuvory. It shows that a patient's sequence has no recorded next step, based on available data. Your physicians decide what comes next, and your team handles authorization.

Which pain sequence metrics matter?

Measure the sequences, not just procedure volume. Procedures completed after Nuvory flagged a stalled sequence are compared with your baseline; that comparison suggests outreach helped but does not prove it.

MetricWhat it shows
Diagnostic block to RFA conversionCompleted block series followed by an ablation, when the physician ordered one.
Injection series completionPlanned series where each intended injection was completed or closed by decision.
Auth-approved, not bookedProcedures with approved authorization and no date.
Post-procedure follow-up completedVisits after procedures completed on the schedule your physicians set.
Referral to first visitReferrals reaching a first visit, by source.
Cancelled procedure days rebookedCancelled procedures with a new date, and time to rebook.

How do schedulers and auth coordinators work stalled sequences?

Pain practices run on a few tightly linked roles. Nuvory gives each a ranked queue so pain procedure scheduling does not depend on memory.

  1. Clinical reviewerA pain physician signs off each rule after spot-checking real patients, including how your practice records block response.
  2. Referral coordinatorWorks new referrals with no contact, ranked by age and source.
  3. Prior auth coordinatorSees procedure orders still open, so approved auths turn into booked cases and pending ones stay visible.
  4. Procedure schedulerWorks stalled sequences and cancelled procedure days, ranked by estimated value, urgency and confidence, then books the case in the EHR with the driver and anticoagulation plan confirmed.
  5. Nurses and MAsFollow up on post-procedure visits and capture response where your workflow calls for it.
  6. Practice administratorReviews conversion and pain management revenue recovery by location and physician.

How does Nuvory fit alongside pain EHRs and authorization tools?

Nuvory works alongside your EHR and your authorization tools. It does not book procedures, submit authorizations or work denials; it is not a revenue cycle tool. If your group runs on ModMed, Nuvory is designed to work with data from ModMed, athenahealth, AdvancedMD and other supported EHRs through FHIR R4 APIs and, where the EHR supports it and your organization enables it, bulk export and SMART on FHIR. athenahealth is a live connection.

For every other EHR, discovery confirms where your practice records block response, authorization status and ASC cases, since those fields vary from group to group. Data handling is covered on our security page.

What should a pain group look for in a tool?

Ask whether a tool understands procedure sequences rather than single orders, keeps medical necessity with your physicians, fits alongside your existing authorization workflow, and reports conversion by physician and site.

How does Nuvory track medial branch block to RFA conversion?

Nuvory looks for patients with completed diagnostic medial branch blocks and no recorded next step, such as a second block or an ablation order. Your clinical reviewer defines the rule. Physicians decide whether ablation is appropriate, and payers decide authorization.

Can Nuvory follow epidural steroid injection series?

Yes, where the plan is recorded as orders, recalls or follow-up visits. If the next intended injection or the follow-up visit has no date, the patient appears on the list. Clinicians decide whether another injection is appropriate.

Does Nuvory handle prior authorization?

No. Nuvory does not submit or track authorizations with payers. It shows procedure orders that are still open, so cases waiting on authorization or scheduling stay visible to the team that owns them.

Is Nuvory a pain management patient recall tool?

Recall Intelligence finds patients past a follow-up date your clinicians set, including post-procedure visits and planned repeat procedures. It skips patients already booked and closes the item when care is completed.

Will Nuvory flag patients who had a procedure at another facility?

Staff can mark an item as done elsewhere with a reason. Where claims or HIE feeds are connected, matching is more precise. Completion is verified where data is available.

How is Nuvory priced for a pain practice?

Starter is $149 per provider per month for Recall Intelligence. Growth is $299 per provider per month and adds Referral, Procedure, Scheduling, Care Management and Opportunity Intelligence. See pricing.
