Find Revenue Opportunities Across Every Practice in Your MSO

Every practice in an MSO tracks referrals, orders and recalls a little differently. Nuvory applies one set of definitions, builds a baseline for each practice, and gives each front desk its own ranked list.

What is MSO revenue intelligence?

MSO revenue intelligence is healthcare revenue leakage intelligence for a management services organization. It applies the same definitions of a stalled referral, an open order and an overdue recall to every practice an MSO supports, so results can be compared fairly. Nuvory reads each practice's EHR nightly, builds a baseline per practice, and gives local staff ranked lists while the MSO sees open and recovered value by practice, location and service line.

Why is leakage hard to see across an MSO?

It is hard to see because each practice defines it differently, if at all. One practice counts a referral as closed when it is scheduled; another when the patient is seen. One works its recall list weekly; another has not opened it in months.

Add different EHRs, different local codes and different staffing, and the MSO ends up comparing numbers that do not mean the same thing. Healthcare MSO analytics built on billing data show what was collected. They do not show what was ordered, referred or recalled and never happened.

  • Different definitions "Open referral" means something different at each practice.
  • Different EHRs Acquired or affiliated practices often keep their own systems.
  • No common baseline Without one, improvement at one practice cannot be compared with another.
  • Central teams without patient-level detail The MSO sees totals; local staff need names.

How does Nuvory fit an MSO operating model?

Nuvory splits the work the way most MSOs already do: the central team sets standards and watches results, and each practice does the patient work.

Rules start from HealthArc templates and are signed off by a clinical reviewer. An MSO can apply the same rule set across practices so that an overdue surveillance recall or a stalled referral means the same thing everywhere, while keeping configurable windows where a practice needs them.

What does the central team get?

Open and recovered value by practice, location and service line, each against its own baseline. On the Enterprise plan, Network Intelligence adds a leadership view of where patients go for care you offer.

What do the practices get?

A ranked daily list per front desk, scheduler or referral coordinator, built from their own EHR. One person, one task per patient. Staff keep booking in their own EHR.

Who is involved at the MSO and the practice?

  • MSO COO or operations lead Owns definitions, baselines and the roll-up view.
  • Revenue cycle leadership Uses completion data to see recovered value, and optional claims feeds for matching.
  • Practice administrators Run daily huddles from their practice's open items.
  • Schedulers and referral coordinators Work ranked lists and book in the local EHR.
  • Clinical reviewers Sign off rules and review care-management candidates.
  • IT and EHR administrators Approve each practice's EHR connection.

How does rollout work across practices?

Rollout can happen in waves. Timeline is confirmed during discovery.

  1. Choose the first practicesPick practices with clear owners and an EHR in scope.
  2. Connect each EHREach practice's administrator approves the connection. See integrations.
  3. Load, map and baselineHealthArc loads about two years of history, maps locations and local codes, and builds a baseline per practice.
  4. Agree shared rulesA clinical reviewer signs off each rule after spot-checking real patients.
  5. Work and reviewPractices work lists daily; the MSO reviews results against each baseline.
  6. Add practicesRepeat for the next wave.

What should an MSO measure?

Measure each practice against its own baseline, then compare trends. Recovered value is care completed after detection against baseline: correlation with outreach, not proof of cause.

How does Nuvory handle multiple EHRs?

Multi-EHR and multi-location roll-ups are part of the Enterprise plan. athenahealth is live today; Epic, eClinicalWorks, ModMed, NextGen, AdvancedMD, Practice Fusion, Veradigm and Elation Health are supported, with scope and data availability confirmed during discovery for each practice.

Enterprise can also add claims (X12 837/835) and HIE feeds, which make completion matching more precise. See pricing and the athenahealth page for the live connection.

What should an MSO evaluate?

  • Are definitions consistent? The same rule should mean the same thing at every practice.
  • Is there a baseline per practice? Without it, comparisons are unfair.
  • Is access separated? Each practice's data is isolated, and role-based access limits who sees what.
  • Does it work on our EHR mix? Confirm scope for each EHR during discovery.
  • Is MSO revenue intelligence actionable locally? Roll-ups are only useful if each front desk has names to call.

Questions, answered

More in our FAQ, or ask our team.

Can Nuvory cover practices on different EHRs?

Yes, on the Enterprise plan. athenahealth is live, and Epic, eClinicalWorks, ModMed, NextGen, AdvancedMD, Practice Fusion, Veradigm and Elation Health are supported. Scope is confirmed for each practice during discovery.

Is each practice's data kept separate?

Yes. Data is isolated per practice, encrypted in transit and at rest, and role-based access limits staff to their locations. Every patient view is audited. See security.

Can practices have different rules?

Rules start from shared HealthArc templates, and windows are configurable. MSOs can keep definitions consistent and adjust only where a practice's workflow requires it.

Does the MSO team call patients?

Usually not. Local staff work their own lists. The MSO watches results and baselines. Some MSOs run a central call team; Nuvory supports either model through role-based access.

Who signs the BAA?

HealthArc signs a BAA with every customer. Your contracting structure is confirmed during discovery.

Is Network Intelligence a call list?

No. It is a leadership view of outflow by service line, site and destination, available on the Enterprise plan.
