ModMed Revenue Intelligence for Procedure-Heavy Specialty Groups

ModMed is common among GI, orthopedic and other specialty groups that live on procedures and long recall intervals. Nuvory is designed to find the ones that never happened and rank them for your schedulers.

What is ModMed revenue intelligence?

ModMed revenue intelligence is the nightly check of appointments, procedure orders and recalls in ModMed against what was actually completed. Nuvory, healthcare revenue leakage intelligence for specialty practices, is designed to work with ModMed through its FHIR R4 APIs, with bulk export and practice management data where enabled. Procedure and recall leakage are often the largest opportunities in ModMed groups. Scope is confirmed during discovery.

Which specialties on ModMed is this built for?

Specialty groups whose revenue depends on scheduled procedures and surveillance intervals. In specialty groups, leakage happens in the handoffs between clinic, scheduling and the procedure suite, not in the EHR record itself.

Gastroenterology

Surveillance colonoscopies past due and endoscopy orders never scheduled. See gastroenterology and our guide to colonoscopy recall management.

Orthopedics

Imaging with no results visit, cancelled surgeries and skipped post-op visits. See orthopedics.

Pain management

Block-to-ablation sequences and injection series that stall. See pain management.

Ophthalmology and urology

Injection intervals, glaucoma testing, cystoscopy surveillance, PSA follow-up and cataract consults that never reached surgery. See ophthalmology and urology.

We will show how a specialty group's open items are ranked and worked.

What does procedure and recall leakage look like on ModMed?

  • Surveillance intervals A colonoscopy recall set for years out passes with nothing booked.
  • Procedure orders An endoscopy, injection or surgery is ordered and never scheduled, often stuck behind prior authorization.
  • Cancellations A procedure cancelled for prep, illness or cost is flagged after 2 days without a new date.
  • Post-op returns Post-procedure follow-ups that patients skip once they feel better.
  • Inbound referrals Primary care referrals with no contact or no visit.

How is a ModMed group set up?

Specialty setup puts extra weight on procedure codes, procedure sites and surveillance intervals. Your administrator approves API access and lists the locations, including any ambulatory surgery or procedure sites tracked separately. Timeline is confirmed during discovery.

  1. Approve accessYour ModMed administrator approves API access.
  2. Load historyAbout two years of appointments, orders and procedures are loaded.
  3. Map procedures and sitesHealthArc maps local procedure codes and locations, including procedure suites.
  4. Agree intervals with your cliniciansSurveillance and post-op rules start from HealthArc templates; a physician reviewer approves each after spot-checking patients.
  5. Baseline and go liveA per-service-line baseline is built and nightly runs begin.

What should a ModMed specialty group evaluate?

  • Does it understand intervals? A surveillance recall is not the same as a 30-day follow-up.
  • Does it treat cancellations separately? Cancelled procedures need faster action than overdue recalls.
  • Can value be shown by service line? Leaders want GI, ortho and pain reported separately.
  • What does the security review cover? A business associate agreement, the SOC 2 Type II report on HealthArc's platform and per-practice data isolation; see security.

Questions, answered

More in our FAQ, or ask our team.

Is Nuvory available for ModMed today?

ModMed is a supported EHR. Nuvory is designed to work with ModMed data through FHIR R4 APIs, with bulk export and practice management data where enabled. Scope is confirmed during discovery.

Does Nuvory schedule procedures in ModMed?

No. Schedulers keep booking in ModMed. Nuvory identifies the patients and the reason to call.

Who sets surveillance intervals?

Your clinicians. Rules start from HealthArc templates, and a clinical reviewer at your practice signs off each one.

How quickly are cancelled procedures flagged?

By default, cancelled procedures are flagged after 2 days without rebooking and office visits after 7. Both are configurable.

Can Nuvory tell if a procedure was done somewhere else?

Staff can close an order as done elsewhere with a reason. Claims or HIE feeds, where connected on Enterprise, make completion matching more precise.
