Patient Network Leakage: See Where Patients Go for Care
See where patients go for care you offer, so leaders can act on it.
What does Network Intelligence do?
Network Intelligence shows where patients go when they get care outside your organization for services you offer. It traces outbound orders and referrals, counts care your staff record as done elsewhere, and adds claims or HIE data when connected. It is a leadership view, not a call list. Network Intelligence is part of the Enterprise plan.
See outflow clearly
By service line, site and destination.
Focus on what you can change
Payer-directed care is shown separately.
Plan with real data
Guide capacity and referral strategy.
What it finds
- Imaging, labs and procedures performed outside the network
- Downstream services lost to competing sites
- Payer-directed care, shown separately
- Sites and providers with the most outflow
Data it uses
| Source | What it tells Nuvory |
|---|---|
| ServiceRequest | Outbound orders and referrals |
| Organization | Where care was completed |
| Payer claims (ExplanationOfBenefit) | Care billed by other providers, when a payer feed is connected; 835 remittances cover only your own claims |
| ADT feed (HIE) | Encounters at other facilities |
How it works
- Step 1Trace each order and referral to where the care was completed
- Step 2Count done-elsewhere closes from the action queue
- Step 3With a claims or HIE feed, find the same services billed by other providers
- Step 4Show leaders where and why patients leave
What can you measure with Network Intelligence?
Each figure is tracked against your own baseline from two years of history, by location and service line. Network Intelligence is included in the Enterprise plan. Compare plans.
- Outflow by service line
- Outflow by destination, where claims, HIE or done-elsewhere data shows it
- Payer-directed share
- Estimated downstream value

Referral IntelligenceWhat Is Referral Leakage in Healthcare?
Referral leakage means different things to a specialty practice, a health system and a payer. Here is a clear definition, the four places referrals drop off, and the funnel metrics that show where your process loses patients.

Questions, answered
More in our FAQ, or ask our team.
Do we need claims data for Network Intelligence?
It starts with outbound orders and done-elsewhere closes from your own data. Connecting payer claims or an HIE feed adds care billed or seen by other providers.
Will it call patients who went elsewhere?
No. Network Intelligence is a leadership view for service-line planning. It does not create outreach lists.
How is payer-directed care handled?
It is reported separately so leaders can tell avoidable outflow from care the patient's plan required.
